PATIENT CARE DOCUMENTATION SEMINAR
This seminar is designed to assure that physicians can:
- Identify
basic documentation guidelines
- Review the importance and ramifications
of medical legal issues in documentation
- Understand the necessary elements in inpatient/outpatient charting
- Improve the coordination
of care of multiple providers
- Overcome barriers to good documentation
This interactive, 8-hour small group course follows the successful
CPEP model of providing a pre- and post-program training. This approach,
when combined with individual attention, coaching and ongoing feedback,
will significantly increase the potential that physicians will successfully
incorporate new behaviors into their practices. In the pre-program,
the physician submits three (3) of their patient charts for preliminary
evaluation by the physician instructor. The physicians will also
have an opportunity to review and self-assess the charts during
the class. This accredited medical documenation course is
available four times per year and is jointly sponsored with the
Colorado Foundation for Medical Care. The COPIC Insurance Company
approved the program for up to 2 Experience Rating System (ERS)
points and up to 8 CME credits.
Personalized Implementation Program (PIP)
Enrollees of the Personalized Implementation Program are to submit three sets of charts to CPEP at two, four and six months after the Patient Care Documentation Seminar. CPEP offers verbal and written feedback from a CPEP medical consultant at two and four months post-seminar. Checklists are returned to the participant with instructions for the participant to contact CPEP to schedule a telephone conference with the respective medical reviewer. This is a vital part of the follow-up process. CPEP will submit a final report of the participant’s progress following the final chart submission.
Participants must enroll in the six-month Personalized Implementation Program within one month of attending the Patient Care Documentation seminar.
