POST-EDUCATION PHYSICIAN EVALUATION
The Post-Education Physician Evaluation provides an objective means of measuring
progress following the findings of the Assessment and the implementation
of the Educational Intervention. This evaluation is designed to
document improvements and determine whether the participant has
integrated new learning into daily clinical practice.
The Post-Education Physician Evaluation lasts one-to-two days and takes place
at CPEP in Denver. The Evaluation typically involves two structured
clinical interviews and a multiple-choice exam. The participant
is required to submit charts of patients managed since the Educational
Intervention for review. Other test modalities may be added depending
on the physicians performance in the original Assessment.
Results
of the Evaluation and a summary of the Educational Intervention
are incorporated into a final report that is provided to the physician
and to referring organizations if appropriate. Based on the outcomes
of the Evaluation, the physician may either be found to have completed
the CPEP program satisfactorily or may be required to extend the
Educational Intervention for an additional length of time. In all
cases, the design of the program and the experience of CPEP staff
combine to distinguish between a perfunctory compliance with objectives
and a true integration of knowledge acquisition and behavioral change
into clinical practice.
