CLINICAL PRACTICE RE-ENTRY PROGRAM
No occupation matches the day-to-day rewards of today’s physician. The positive impact on the lives of others and the continuous medical advances make it one of the more rewarding fields around. Keeping up is important for the actively practicing physician. For those physicians re-entering the field, catching up can be difficult.
CPEP’s Clinical Practice Re-Entry Program helps physicians re-enter medical practice after an extended absence. This interactive evaluation and educational experience gives physicians an effective and proven way to transition back into clinical practice.
Program features include:
CLINICAL SKILLS EVALUATION
- One day comprehensive evaluation tailored to the physician’s specialty
- Structured clinical interviews with board certified physicians/consultants
- Program directors trained in evaluation methodology, education, and physician/patient communications
PRACTICE BASED LEARNING AND RE-ENTRY PROCESS
- Educational experiences in the physician’s local community
- Supervised clinical experience to update technical skills and medical knowledge
- Transitional clinical experience in an independent practice
- Counsel of a skilled preceptor
- Guidance of a medical director
- Detailed reporting tracking progress
The CPEP approach enables physicians to confidently begin to re-establish their medical careers.* Each program feature addresses the concerns of state medical boards and hospitals regarding physician competence. We also provide documentation that can help when applying for medical malpractice insurance and/or hospital privileges.

* Physicians must have left the medical field in good standing. Participants must plan to re-enter areas of clinical practice in which they have had prior clinical training and experience. Re-entering physicians switching specialty areas would qualify for the more comprehensive assessment/education process. CPEP cannot guarantee that educational resources will be available for all educational needs.
